Visit one of upper Norrland’s oldest churches. Dating from the 16th century, it offers medieval sculptures such as a triumphal cross and a St. Christopher.
As early as the 14th century, there was most probably a wooden church where the present edifice now stands. This latter, a single-nave church without a tower, was completed at the start of the 16th century. Certain parts of the interior can be dated exactly, e.g. the stellar vault is from 1539 and the pulpit from 1658. It is fascinating to think how the church has been in use for just over half a millennium.
The church is open all year round. Our “summer church” also offers concerts, exhibitions and refreshments.
